One thing I've gotta ask is what's with the digital characters placed within the traditionally drawn image? If it was just because you were not comfortable with adding them in post, or fearful their inclusion could ruin the piece and your work I personally would have opted for just making these two images of them on paper, cutting them out, then placing them over, as is they are just jarring and distracting by their crispness. Like seeing 3d rendered cartoony cars in anime, I think I've seen Family Guy do that on the few times it's on downstairs, too, it doesn't look very good and lacks cohesion. That aside....
I LOVE THIS PIECE!!!! I always have the worst time depicting Hell bcause mine is such a cluttered mess of, well, kind of this, just STUFF!!! All sorts of varieties of stuff thrown around, your take is fantastic, I love the faned skull pule it's probably my favorite object within this, then would definitely be that shark demon statue, is it based on any character or creature within the universe or is it just a cool idea for a statue?
Oh, yeah, I was trying something experimental with these. I never saw traditional backgrounds with digital characters before so I thought I'd blaze a trail to tradigital art. Then I lost interest before I could work out the kinks :/ It's more than just the characters that are digital though, the heat stream on the right, the ghosts flying around, the slight vignette effect, and even some of the lava chunks flying out of the volcano back there :/ Oh! And the camp"fire". To be completely honest, I'm not really sure how I would have done that traditionally.
That said, dude, I'm loving your comments. Mostly the constructive criticisms. I'm trying to improve as an artist and stuff here, so feedback like that is always appreciated. Thanx ^^
